Coach, Grief Educator, Death Doula DISC Analyst, Yellow Ribbon Trainer
Kelli is more than a suicide loss survivor, public speaker, grief educator, and mom of three beautiful children. She is a woman of God, and child of Christ who exemplifies the power of transformation, possibility, and the idea that we can live fully and grieve fully!
Kelli holds a certification as a grief educator from David Kessler, world renowned grief expert. She has also attended several trainings offered by Dr. Alan Wolfelt, Center for Loss with several more scheduled in the coming year. Kelli holds certifications as a DISC analyst and behavior specialist through Personality-Insights, is a Yellow Ribbon suicide prevention trainer, and has been an affiliate of the American Heart Association teaching CPR and First Aid classes for 20 years. She teases “now I teach people to take care of another person’s heart in more ways than one”.
Kelli’s magnetism towards grief started early when she realized she was comfortable in situations that made others squirm. “When other providers were walking out of rooms where death was imminent, I pulled up a chair and stayed”. Kelli volunteered for hospice companies in her early twenties and sat with several church members and family friends as they took their last breaths. “I’ve never shied away from conversations around death or grief” Kelli says. “Some of the most valuable words of wisdom I’ve ever heard came from terminally ill people I was sitting with”.
After working in emergency services, being a hospice volunteer and teaching grief classes for many years, Kelli switched gears when she and her husband became foster parents to several children. These tiny souls came with so much trauma and abandonment issues it forced Kelli to dive into resources about childhood trauma and grief. There is so much to learn on the topic!
Even though she was well versed in grief, had a background in emergency services, had studied trauma, experienced the death of both her parents and three of her grandparents, nothing prepared her for the sudden, unexpected death of her husband by suicide in July 2019. Kelli says “The grief is completely different than anything I’ve ever experienced. I now understand why suicide loss survivors search out other survivors, nobody else gets it. Unless you have lost someone to suicide you just can’t understand the mental anguish it causes. The shame, the mental health stigma, the displaced guilt…all of it is different”.
Soon after her husband’s death, Kelli’s counselor, and pastor both agreed with her saying “something good will come from all this pain”. Now, it’s happening and here it is… A new coaching experience for people with servant hearts who want to transform how we care for others in grief. Kelli uses her extensive knowledge in grief education, personality styles and love languages along with her personal experience, passion, quick wit and a dose of humor to empower you to become a CONFIDENT COMPANION who can and will change the outcome of grievers for years to come!
Reasons you can depend on Kelli Cline to help you come alongside and companion those left behind after a death by suicide…CONFIDENTLY.
